I think that the universe itself is conscious, but not in the way one might imagine, say, God being conscious. I think that the universe operates in ways so far beyond what we can ever hope to understand, akin to how madness can be transcribed but not truly understood by an outside observer. I don't believe that the universe makes decisions in the same way that we do - although I don't believe it can be reduced to human behaviors at all.
All science is, is finding explanations for what we observe and presume to be facts. Our understanding of ourselves, our world, and our universe have all been updated as our collective knowledge accumulates through generations of study. Things that we presume to be true today have a very real chance to be seen as false and misguided in the far-off future.
All of that is to say: no matter what explanation I might try to come up with to convey my thoughts, I do not believe myself, or anyone else, to truly have an "answer" to the universe. We are a part of it. We were born of it. We are not
"inside" the universe - we ARE the universe. It is the same thing as God or any other figure in any other religion, for that matter. Nobody has any recollection of what "life" was like before they were born, and nobody knows what "ife" will be like after they die. "Life" is relative to our current understanding of the concept. And according to our knowledge, the universe operates under the same rules that we do.
Writing all of this out, I guess that the cosmos is my focus of worship. I don't believe in a God or a Creator. But I believe in myself and believe in the Universe that I am a part of.
Not a diagnosed schizo but I've had a few psychotic episodes in the last two years and I'm in the age range where it starts to manifest.

I believe there is deep truth in your words! I disagree with you on the point where you talk about knowledge, because knowledge is empirical, it accumulates and the greatest insights come higher up.
I would say the universe is trying to understand itself, and humans are currently the best tools for that.
